PARAMO.
The páramo is a sacred territory, where life is born through water. Amid the mist and the wind, frailejones capture moisture from the air and transform it into fresh water that feeds rivers, mountains, and communities. Their presence sustains a unique biodiversity and safeguards the balance of high-altitude flora and fauna.
Today, however, these landscapes face the fragility of climate change and the impact of human activity. Colombia, home to most of the world’s páramos, holds a vital treasure that we must not only admire, but also preserve, protect, and defend before it is too late and their only existence remains in images.
